HERE IS WHAT I SEE WITH MY EYES - How it was born
“Here is what I see with my eyes” (Ecco cosa vedono I miei occhi) does not need much explanation, just read the text to understand how it came. Just over two years ago, in April 2013, when the travel buddy turned up again, I spent a few bad days where I could only imagine a future made up just of treatments, therapies and problems.
She, and you can imagine who she is, took my hands in those days to take me out of the darkness. She also wrote me a letter so that I could read it in the lonely moments spent in hospital. A letter where she told me what she went on seeing in our future together in the coming years, until the old age. That letter ended with the phrase "Here is what I see with my eyes"
Last year, after losing the sight in my left eye, I picked up her letter again and I read it again.
The sentence "Here is what I see with my eyes", which closed the letter, took a new and even deeper meaning and I decided to make that letter become a song.
The lyrics and the song was formerly born in Italian. Then I decided to make the English version after having translated the lyrics to some dear Slovenian friends. I immediately understood that the rhythm and the music were fine also with the english lyric. I have just made few changes and arrangements and “Here is what I see with my eyes” was born.
Text and song are dedicated to her, the lady who inspired it and who will soon become my wife.

HERE IS WHAT I SEE WITH MY EYES
Lyrics and music by C. Ferla 2014
I remember that day when you told me
Here is what I see with my eyes
It’s been how you made it possible for us not to be over
Showing me the future I was not able to foresee
Here is what I see with my eyes
Here is what I see with my eyes
I can’t see any future with the two of us
My desperate scream in which I was sucked within
Here is what I see with my eyes
Your view which has been guiding us since that day of March
Here is what I see with my eyes
Here is what I see with my eyes
I see our house surrounded by olive trees
with the sea breeze that soothes the heat of the summer peaks
I see two babies coming back from a walk
One already grown, the other in the cradle newly born
Here is what I see with my eyes
Here is what I see with my eyes
I see dinners all together and movies to be seen
A little girl to wean and to make fall asleep
I see a red cat sleeping on the pillow
And a big happy dog running into the sea
Here is what I see with my eyes
Here is what I see with my eyes
I see a few tears and lots of smiles,
and some wrinkles score our faces.
I see us old, sitting on a rocking chair
While reliving our past as in a movie screen
Here is what I see with my eyes
Here is what I see with my eyes
My eyes see two different things,
One sees only black, the other sees and reads you
One eye is enough to see how it is today
Your ones show me how tomorrow will be
And standing with you hand in hand walking away
Towards what your eyes see for us in the future
Here is what I see with my eyes
Here is what I see with my eyes
Here is what I see with your eyes
Here is what I see with your eyes
